Breakaway Makes New ENGLAND STOP, taking over The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts for an unforgettable Weekend

Roughly an hour from Boston, Breakaway, Massachusetts, drew large crowds over the two days for an unforgettable weekend. Earlier this year, Breakaway took to social to announce its Massachutes lineup, boasting massive names in Electronic/Dance music with headliners DeadMau5, Tiesto, Big Gigantic, and Illenium. Furthermore, the undercard showcased talent across various Electronic/Dance genres, including House and Tech-house, Dubstep, and Bass.

Breakaway brought its top-tier production to Massachusetts with its multi-stage layout, including an indoor and outdoor main stage. The venue also housed a silent disco complete with a beaming disco ball and filled with various activations presented by brands Celsius, BeatBox, and SHEIN, to name a few.

DAY 1

This year’s North Coast lineup boasted some of the biggest names in EDM including headliners, Subtronics, Illenium, ISOKNOCK (ISOxo B2B Knock2) and Two Friends. Over the 3 days, the headliners delivered unforgettable performances.
I started day one by exploring the venue and locating the different stages. My first set of the weekend was House DJ J.Worra at the main stage. As J.Worra's set ended, Disco Lines took the stage, and the sun began to set. Disco Lines delivered a high-energy set filled with many dance hits as vibrant multi-colored visuals shined and illuminated the crowd.

Legendary DJ/producer Deadmau5 then delivered a hypnotic set complete with many of his electronic anthems, including "When The Summer Dies" and "Ghosts' n' Stuff." The bright lights and unique set visuals kept the crowd in an energetic trance. Finally, Tiesto took the stage to close out the first day with a set for every EDM with various dance hits and bass-heavy drops. Tiesto ended his set with the hit track "Thank You (Not So Bad)."  As the crowd chanted the lyrics and the beat dropped, dazzling fireworks illuminated the sky.

DAY 2

I arrived earlier on the second day to explore the various activations Breakaway had for its attendees. Beatbox hosted a bracelet-making section, while Celius had the cutest lounge with various photo-op options. SHEIN wowed me with its pop-up shop for all your festival essentials and accessories. The shop had an accessible rooftop for an aerial view of the main stage. Soon after, I went to the designated food area to grab a pizza slice from one of the many vendors.

After exploring the festival grounds a bit more, I headed to the main stage to see Levity, the multi-genre trio from Chicago. Their high-energy performance, contagious stage, and intense drops set the perfect vibe for my second day.

Following Levity, I headed into The Launch Pad, located inside the Palladium Theater, to catch AYYBO. Having followed the house DJ over the past few months, I was very excited to see his set. The Launch Pad then kept the house going as Noizu took the stage and delivered a set of contagious beats that had the crowd moving.

After spending some time indoors, I was ready to feel the breeze; however, to my surprise

it had begun raining. While staying indoors was an option, there was something about the energy in a rainy setting that I could not ignore. Intense beats filled the venue as I made my way to the main stage. Big Gigantic, a DJ duo, are known for their unique sound and showcased precisely that as they performed with various instruments, including drums and the saxophone.

Following Big Gigantic's thrilling set, melodic dubstep and future bass DJ Illenium took the stage. Illenium's hour-long set was filled with many of his older and newer hit tracks. Illenium closed out his set with his track "Good Things Fall Apart." When the beat finally dropped, fireworks and pyro erupted from the stage as the crowd was showered in confetti, making the end of Breakaway a true spectacle

I am so glad to have experienced Breakaway after following it over the past year. The festival's top-tier production and stellar lineups solidify its reputation as a festival you will not want to miss.
