Every big university needs a great entertaining district for college kids to cut loose and forget about school every once in a while and that place has been Mill Avenue for Arizona State students. While Mill Ave has always been a pretty diverse strip that could fulfill the late night needs for any type of interest one may have for going out, it hasn’t had an EDM scene until now. Darkstar (a fairly new EDM club) hosted Dj Sammy Virji. Sammy was supposed to perform at body language, one of Arizona’s biggest EDM shows. However, due to complications the festival was canceled. Sammy was still able to get booked by the a local club and brought a piece of the UK DJ scene to Tempe.
I’ve been to my fair share of nightclubs before, but this was my first time attending a EDM style club, and I truly didn’t know what atmosphere to expect. It started out slow like all clubs do when they first open but as the night progressed each Dj got progressively got the crowd amped up. Like clockwork when the clock struck midnight Sammy took the stage and the crowd went crazy.
The crowd was electric, and Sammy was able to consistently manage that level of energy throughout his entire two hours set.
